Who We Are
Student Energy is an international directorship of UMEARTH that focuses on energy education and implementing clean renewable energy on a global scale. Our chapter at the University of Manitoba was established in 2018. We are one of approximately 100 student energy chapters around the world.
What We Do
We have studied the health effects of kerosene fires for cooking purposes in the Ivory Coast, Africa. We researched alternative cooking methods that could be implemented, and ended up building a sustainable solar cooker.
Chapter president Tianna, along with Liam, presented a case study at the International Student Energy Summit in London.
We are currently working in Experimental Lakes to replace the current diesel based power system with more sustainable options, such as solar or wind.
